Bandhi Chhorr Divas

During October/November, the worldwide sikh community celebrates the safe return of Sri Guru Hargobind Ji from detention in the Gwalior Fort. On this day, 52 hindu kings were freed by holding on to the extensions attached to Guru Sahibs coat. The day coincides with the Hindu festival of Diwali – "the festival of lights". This concurrence has resulted in similarity of celebration amongst Sikhs and Hindus.
